二条城
1603年, 京都御所の守護と上洛時の宿泊所として
家康が建てた二条城
二の丸御殿の絢爛豪華な障壁画や
装飾品は桃山文化の極みです
二の丸庭園は庭園の名手・小堀遠州作と言われ,
不老不死や永遠の繁栄の意が込められ,
海に見立てた池泉や枯山水の石組に,
仙人の住む蓬莱島,
縁起のよい鶴や亀を模した島々を配する様式が
庭園に取り込まれていて見とれます
日常の城への出入りとされていた重要文化財・西門は,
徳川最後の将軍慶喜も将軍最後の時に
将軍時代への決別を見た門でもあり,
見どころもが満載,
歴史を存分に感じたいところです
Nijo Castle was built in 1603 by
Tokugawa Ieyasu to protect the Kyoto
Imperial Palace and to serve as a
place to stay when traveling to Kyoto.
The Ninomaru Garden is said to
have been designed by Enshu Kobori,
a master gardener.
The garden is said to be a symbol of
immortality and everlasting prosperity,
and is decorated with a pond
resembling the sea,
Horai Island where a hermit lives,
and islands in the shape of
cranes and turtles for good luck,
all in the style of a dry landscape garden.
